Service details

What each service covers, and the warning signs that it's time to call us.

Emergency plumbing

A burst pipe, a failed boiler in January or a sewer backup can do serious damage in hours. Our emergency line is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including nights, weekends and holidays.

We stop the damage first, then explain what failed and what it will take to fix it properly.

Call right away if you have

  • Water coming through a ceiling or wall
  • A burst or frozen pipe
  • No heat or no hot water
  • Sewage backing up into drains or toilets
  • A smell of gas (leave first, see below)
Boilers & heating

We repair, service and replace steam and hot-water boilers for houses, apartments and multi-family buildings. When a boiler is past repair, we help you choose a replacement sized correctly for your home or building.

Regular service keeps a boiler running efficiently and safely, and catches problems before the coldest night of the year.

Signs your heating needs service

  • Cold radiators or uneven heat
  • Banging, clanking or whistling pipes
  • Boiler short-cycling or shutting off
  • Low pressure or leaking around the boiler
  • Heating bills higher than usual
Water heaters & water filtration

Repair and replacement for tank and tankless water heaters, gas and electric. We install new units to code, including venting, gas connections and safety valves.

We can also install water filtration systems to improve the water coming into your home.

Signs of a failing water heater

  • Hot water runs out quickly
  • Rusty or discolored hot water
  • Popping or rumbling from the tank
  • Water pooling around the base
  • A tank that's more than 10 years old
Drain cleaning, hydro jetting & sewer lines

We clear clogged sinks, tubs, toilets and main lines. For heavy grease, scale or root buildup, hydro jetting uses high-pressure water to scour the inside of the pipe clean, so the clog doesn't come right back.

When a sewer line is cracked, collapsed or full of roots, we repair or replace the damaged section.

Signs of a drain or sewer problem

  • Several drains slow at the same time
  • Gurgling from drains or toilets
  • Sewage smell indoors or in the yard
  • Water backing up into a basement floor drain
  • Recurring clogs in the same place
Leak detection, slab leaks & repiping

Hidden leaks behind walls, under floors or beneath a concrete slab can waste water and cause mold and structural damage long before you see them. We locate the leak and repair it with as little opening of walls and floors as possible.

For older homes with corroded galvanized or failing pipes, we repipe the whole home with new supply lines.

Signs of a hidden leak

  • A water bill that jumps without explanation
  • The sound of running water when everything is off
  • Damp spots, stains or bubbling paint
  • Warm spots on a floor (possible slab leak)
  • Low water pressure throughout the house
Gas line repair

We repair and install gas piping for boilers, water heaters, ranges and dryers, and pressure-test lines for safety.

Gas work must be done by licensed professionals. Never attempt a gas repair yourself.

If you smell gas

  • Leave the building immediately
  • Don't use light switches, phones or anything that could spark inside
  • Once outside, call 911 and your gas utility
  • Call us for the repair once the utility says it's safe
Fixtures, toilets & disposals

We install and repair faucets, sinks, toilets, showers, tubs and garbage disposals, whether you're fixing a leak or upgrading a kitchen or bathroom.

Common fixes

  • Running or constantly refilling toilets
  • Dripping faucets and shower valves
  • Weak shower pressure
  • Jammed or leaking garbage disposals
  • New fixture installation
Commercial plumbing & building maintenance

We work with property managers, superintendents, landlords and business owners on apartment buildings, offices, stores and restaurants. We coordinate shutdowns with management and residents so the building keeps running.

Preventive maintenance plans keep boilers, water heaters and drain lines in good shape and cut down on emergency calls.

For buildings and businesses

  • Apartment and tenant repairs
  • Boiler room service
  • Main line and riser work
  • Scheduled preventive maintenance
  • Emergency response for building staff

Emergency? Do this first

A few steps while you wait for us can limit the damage. Then call +1 (212) 844-9517.

Burst pipe or major leak

  1. Shut off the main water valve. It's usually where the water line enters the house or apartment, near the meter.
  2. If water is near outlets or appliances, turn off the power at the breaker, only if you can do it safely.
  3. Open the lowest faucet to drain the lines.
  4. Move valuables and soak up standing water.
  5. Call us.

If you smell gas

  1. Leave the building right away and take everyone with you.
  2. Don't flip switches, use a phone or light anything inside.
  3. From outside, call 911 and your gas utility.
  4. After the utility makes it safe, call us for the repair.

No heat

  1. Check that the thermostat is set to heat and its batteries work.
  2. Check the boiler's power switch and breaker.
  3. Look at the boiler pressure or water gauge.
  4. Don't keep resetting a boiler that keeps shutting off. Call us.

Toilet overflowing or sewer backup

  1. Turn the valve behind the toilet clockwise to shut it off.
  2. Stop using sinks, tubs and toilets in the house.
  3. Keep children and pets away from sewage water.
  4. Call us. A backup in several drains usually means a main-line problem.

Keep your system in shape

Simple habits that prevent the most common calls we get.

Before winter

  • Have your boiler serviced before the heating season
  • Disconnect garden hoses and shut outdoor spigots
  • Insulate pipes in unheated areas
  • Keep the heat on when you travel

In the kitchen & bath

  • Never pour grease down the drain
  • Use strainers in sinks and tubs
  • Flush only toilet paper
  • Fix running toilets early; they waste a lot of water

Around the house

  • Know where your main water shutoff is
  • Flush your water heater once a year
  • Watch your water bill for sudden jumps
  • Call early on slow drains and small leaks
